The First Festival of Cultural Tourism Centered on Yalda Ritual Ceremony and Iranian Hospitality

Today, December 17th, 2017, the first festival of cultural tourism centered on Yalda ritual ceremony and Iranian hospitality was held by cooperation with the Student and Cultural Affairs Department and the efforts of the Cultural, Tourism and Hotel Management Student Association in Faculty of Management, with the presence of Parvin Dadandish, the head of the branch, Younes Yahya, Managing Director of Parsian Evin Hotel, Ebrahim Bay Salami, Managing Director of Social Security Welfare and Tourism, Masoud Nosrati, the Mayor of Rasht, and the head of the World Association of Islamic Cities and Silk Towns and other officials and managers and a large number of students studying tourism and hotel management from 9 to 14 pm in the Kouh-e-Nour Hall of Parsian Evin Hotel.

In this festival, 120 participants competed in three groups of confectionery, cooking, and traditional and modern Yalda tableware. Finally, based on the evaluation by the judges of the festival, Farahnaz Mohseni Arasteh, and Masoumeh Fotouhi, a statue and an appreciation were awarded to three members from each group.

The names of the winners of the festival are:

The confectionery group: Hanie Ashrafi ranked first, Melika Aria for the second place, Seyed Ghazaleh Movahed for the third place.

The Cooking Group: Mona Cheraghi ranked first, Shabnam Mehdi Khani for the second place, Raheleh Sadeghi for the third place.

The traditional and modern Yalda tableware: Hanie Ashrafi ranked first, Sahar Shiraneshan for the second place, Ali Najafpour for the third place.

According to the head of the festival, the first to third places in the cooking group were awarded 500-400-300 thousand Toman respectively, and the first to third places in confectionery group were awarded 400-300-200 thousand Toman and the first to third ranks in Yalda table arrangement group got 300 -200-100 thousand Tomans prize.

Each of the relevant authorities has lectured at the ceremony: Neda Atash Vahidi, head of Festival and Head of the Faculty of Management, Younes Yahya, the Managing Director of the Parsian Evin Hotel, Ebrahim Bay Salami, managing director of Social Security Welfare and Tourism, Masoud Nosrati, the mayor of Rasht, and head of the World Association of Islamic Cities and Silk towns and Shiva Seifuddini, an academic member of the branch.

Massoud Nosrati, the mayor of Rasht, has reminded that: In 2015, Rasht city was recorded internationally by UNESCO in terms of food and cooking and natural attractions and annually, Rasht receives the population over than 36 million tourists, and given the importance of tourism industry and capacity which Iran provides, he believes the ground is prepared for the utilization of creative and innovative ideas in the field of tourism.

Ebrahim Bay Salami, the Managing Director of Social Security Welfare and Tourism, talked about the main components of the tourism industry, principal bases of culture and the place of culture in tourism, and the significant importance of tourism industry in the country, he emphasized that the common ways of developing tourism would not be effective and it can be operated with a well-thought program and management by the literacy of tourism and setting of a strategic document for this industry to overcome the country's major challenge, unemployment.

Shiva Seifuddini, the academic member of the branch has also presented a great deal of material on cultural tourism and ritual ceremony of Yalda, pointing to the fact that Yalda night is the gathering night, the night of strengthening family relationships, night of friendship and peace, night of love and hospitality, night of the harmonization and equality of people and is a night of a symbol of Iranian culture.

At the end of the ceremony, Parvin Dadandish, the head of the branch, after receiving the award and appreciating the participants of the ceremony, added: "This award belongs to all of you.", "it belongs to all students of tourism and hotel management industry who have made achievements during these two or three rounds.", and she finally wished everyone succeed in life and in their career.

Recitation of several Quranic verses, national anthem, reading Hafez Poems, vocal performance of the Avaye-Dastan group, playing Parsian Hotel's teaser, video lecturing by Prof. Jafar Jafari, the father of Tourism Science and his colleagues in Spain, Yalda's reception, awards to festival winners and agents were as other programs of the event.

The National Commission for UNESCO, HGTA (Social Security Tourism Holding), the Parsian Hotel and the Kaleh Company were sponsors of this festival.
